EXCELLENT SAFETY CREDENTIALS
The Sorento features twin front and full-length curtain airbags as standard to provide protection for all passengers. The rigid steel unitary body chassis protects against collision impact while the front seat active headrests protect against whiplash. Active safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), and child safety rear door locks as standard across the range. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) is available on high grade models. The speed of deployment for both driver and front passenger airbags will vary depending upon the position of the seat and the speed at impact. This gives you greater safety and avoids secondary injuries (thanks to a sensor to detect the presence of a front passenger). In case of a lateral collision the curtain airbags will also deploy in a fraction of a second along the front and rear doors, which helps to reduce the risk of injuries to all occupants inside the vehicle. The front passenger airbag comes equipped with an on/off switch to help prevent serious injuries to children. Front seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters provide further protection.
HIGH PRESTIGE AND HIGH PERFORMANCE
Kia's state-of-the-art engines are designed for reliability and durability, and the Sorento is even more powerful than it looks, with a choice of two longitudinally mounted engines driving all four wheels. The 2.5-litre CRDi diesel engine delivers 168bhp and the 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine delivers 244bhp, both with impressive fuel economy. The 2.5-litre diesel engine is available with either a five-speed manual transmission, or a five-speed sports mode automatic which enables the driver to shift up/down the gears with effortlessly quick and accurate changes. The 3.3-litre V6 petrol comes with the five-speed automatic as standard. The Sorento features a fully independent suspension system, with double wishbone front suspension and a five-link setup at the rear, which provides stability in rugged terrain, soaking up the harshest of bumps with remarkable efficiency. Gas-filled shock absorbers provide a controlled ride even over rough off-road surfaces.
A TRUE TRAIL BLAZER
In everyday driving conditions the Sorento's impressive ride and handling is smooth, responsive and agile. But take it off the beaten track and its awesome 4x4 capabilities really begin to shine. The Sorento XE features a selectable 4WD system known as Electric Shift Transfer (EST) whilst the high grade models feature full-time electronically controlled 4WD. The EST derivative features a switch on the dashboard which allows you to change between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive depending upon your driving conditions. You can also switch to low-ratio 4WD on steep gradients, deep mud, or snow and ice. This ultra low gearing delivers maximum traction to get you out of trouble in even the most arduous conditions. The Full-time permanent 4WD known as Torque On Demand (TOD) derivatives automatically evaluates your driving conditions and distributes power between the wheels accordingly. The level of grip required is adjusted using Active Torque Transfer (ATT). Just like the EST derivative, low-ratio can still be manually selected when the going gets tough.
HIGH CLASS FOR HEAVY DUTY: THE SORENTO XE-C
The Sorento XE-C is designed to meet all your commercial vehicle needs across a wide range of industries. This model features the same surprising on- and off-road performance, luxury seating at the front, cleverly located storage compartments and standard air conditioning as the traditional Sorento. Open the two rear doors or tailgate and you’ve got plenty of useful cargo space for carrying all sorts of equipment. Don’t worry if you can’t carry all your kit inside. With a ladder chassis and dual frame body, the Sorento XE-C is as strong as an ox. It can haul trailers up to 3,500Kg*. That’s more than enough for a mini digger, horsebox or even a car transporter with another Kia Sorento! But the XE-C is more than just a practical load carrier.
